Rock Run Falls along the Bucktail Path

We are so blessed to be living in an area where nature surrounds us.  A person doesn't need to travel very far in any direction to witness pure natural beauty.  It may be a breathtaking vista, a silent meadow, an  awesome rock formations or a beautiful waterfalls but its all around us.  Today we decided to hike into Rock Run Falls and take advantage of a beautiful February day.  It had been ten years since we had hiked into this spot and we remember that day like it was yesterday.  On that particular day it was incredibly hot and when we arrived at the base of the falls the cool breeze coming off the waterfalls was very welcoming,  it was as if you had just stepped into an air conditioned room.  Today the temperatures were perfect for hiking.

If you are ever in the mood to take a nice hike and witness an awesome waterfalls this would be well worth your while.  This falls is located along the Bucktail Path and requires approximately a 5 mile round trip hike on a well blazed trail.  The hike into the falls is a moderate climb but the reward makes it quite worthwhile.  On the upside the return hike is a gentle downhill hike with 3 creek crossings that will challenge your ability to jump from rock to rock and still keep your feet dry.  If you want to spend a nice day in the woods with a reward at the midpoint of your hike this is the place to go.  Pack a lunch and make a day of it.  There's lots of places to pull up a stump and enjoy the natural beauty as you munch on a sandwich.  Better yet, throw on a backpack and hike the entire Bucktail Path.
